Our Return to Row program is the ideal opportunity for rowers who are ready to get back on the water after a break.

Held alongside our Learn to Row II course, this program is tailored for those who have previously rowed but need a gentle reintroduction to the sport.

Over the course of 10 weeks, you’ll have the chance to ease back into rowing at a comfortable pace, with guidance from our experienced coaching staff.

Key components of the Return to Row program include

FUNDAMENTALS

Re-introduce participants to the basic technique and terminology used in rowing, covering essential elements such as body positioning, stroke mechanics, and boat handling.

ON WATER TRAINING

Offer hands-on practice and coaching on the water, allowing participants to gain confidence in their abilities again.

OFF-WATER TRAINING

Incorporate off-water exercises and training methods, such as ergometer workouts and strength training, to enhance overall fitness and rowing performance.

SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT

Re-educate participants on the proper use and maintenance of rowing equipment, as well as the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.

SOCIAL INTEGRATION

Encourage participants to connect with fellow rowers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging within the rowing community.

SWEEP AND SCULLING

Focus on the specific skills required for sweep oared (one oar) rowing and sculling (two oar) providing participants with the necessary knowledge and practice to succeed in these disciplines.

PATHWAYS FOR PROGRESSION

Upon completion of the program, provide participants with information on additional rowing opportunities and programs available at the Red Shed, enabling them to continue developing their skills and passion for the sport.
