RED SHED CODE OF CONDUCT
Introduction
Red Shed is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful community environment for all who engage with us — including participants, visitors, members, volunteers, and guests. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations to ensure that everyone can enjoy a welcoming, fair, and supportive experience.
By visiting or participating in Red Shed programs or events, you agree to uphold these standards.
Scope
This Code applies to all individuals involved in any Red Shed activity, including but not limited to:
– Staff, volunteers, and contractors;
– Program participants and members;
– Visitors, spectators, and event attendees;
– Volunteers and community partners;
– Any interactions associated with Red Shed online or in person.
It applies to all Red Shed sites and venues, external events, partner locations, and online communications.
General Standards of Behaviour
All individuals are expected to:
– Act honestly and with integrity and diligence;
– Treat others with respect, courtesy, and honesty at all times;
– Promote an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment free of discrimination or harassment;
– Protect the integrity and reputation of Red Shed;
– Comply with all applicable Red Shed policies and procedures;
– Follow lawful and reasonable directions issued by Red Shed staff or authorised personnel;
– Use Red Shed resources and facilities properly and only for their intended purposes;
– Help ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment for all;
– Communicate truthfully;
– Avoid using one’s involvement with Red Shed for personal advantage.
Abandonment of Participation
Where an individual fails to attend scheduled activities without notification, Red Shed may deem this as an abandonment of participation. This may result in:
– Removal from the program or activity;
– No refund or credit, subject to Red Shed’s cancellation and refund policy;
– Further follow-up for safety and welfare, particularly where children or vulnerable individuals are involved.
Ethics and Conduct
– Act with honesty, fairness, and good judgment;
– Avoid conduct that may bring Red Shed into disrepute or legal liability, or cause harm or discomfort to others;
– Raise any serious concerns with a Red Shed staff member or designated contact.
Dress Code
All individuals must dress appropriately and respectfully for the activities in which they are participating. Clothing should:
– Allow safe movement and participation;
– Be inclusive and not offensive;
– Follow any program-specific dress expectations, as advised in the welcome email.
Time and Attendance
– Be punctual and prepared for scheduled activities;
– Understand that repeated lateness may affect your ability to participate in future programs.
Privacy and Information Handling
– Respect the privacy of others and handle information with care;
– Do not share personal details or sensitive content without permission;
– Follow Red Shed privacy procedures.
Mobile Phones and Devices
– Use devices only when appropriate and not disruptive to others;
– Do not access or share inappropriate content;
– Follow any device use guidelines shared by staff.
Smoking, Alcohol and Drugs
– Smoking is not permitted on Red Shed premises or during Red Shed-led activities at any time;
– Alcohol is not permitted unless part of a Red Shed-authorised and licensed event;
– Drug use (including recreational or non-prescribed substances) is not permitted at any time;
– Do not attend activities while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Use of Facilities and Equipment
– Treat all Red Shed spaces and items with care;
– Report any damage or safety issues promptly;
– Return borrowed items after use and leave shared spaces clean.
Breach of Policy
– Any concerns or breaches can be reported to a Red Shed staff member or emailed to codeofconduct@redshed.org.au;
– Breaches may result in:
– Warnings or education around expectations;
– Removal from activities or events;
– Charges or additional fees;
– Referral to appropriate authorities where necessary.
Policy Updates
Red Shed may update this Code of Conduct from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
By engaging with Red Shed, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
