6 months in and we’re very happy with the community that we’ve built here at Red Shed and we’d like to take some time to highlight an important transition that we felt was required to solidify exactly how special we believe this place is – and that’s the introduction of a subtle rebranding to RSX; the ‘Red Shed Experience’.
It started with the questions from enquiries about what type of training we did at the Red Shed gym and I felt as though we were selling ourselves short by really saying anything. ‘What’s it like?’ was another. I found myself challenged by ways to describe it, so what I found myself saying was, ‘Come in and experience it’. This was how our 2-session trial was started – and this is where RSX was born.
Now, whilst there’s many things that contribute to this buzz in the community, one thing in particular was highlighted last week when we were playing basketball in a local mixed comp. We were at a get together at one of the members houses one afternoon and decided to form a team. Then one of the team ordered red head bands (can’t say they help, but we look the part). At the end of the game you’re asked to rate the other team and hear any feedback from the ref. The ref then said to us, “What I noticed about your team is it’s so diverse. Like all the other teams look like they’re a team. You guys all look so different, yet you all have so much fun.” This is an example of the comraderie that is shared not only on the court, but in every gym session. If you put everyone in a line up, you’d be hard pressed to pick any noticeable similarities. But I promise you’ll be hard to find any gym around here that has a vibe quite like this one.
Speaking of vibes, we’ve just had a bunch of members hit their inaugural 100 session mark! Iliajia, Nay Nay/Foxy, Liv (Liz), Coastal Kaz, Eriola and Supermon all ticked off this mark recently. Pitbull aka Lina Belina is on 98 sessions. So lots making their century one to remember! One thing we do appreciate is a good story, followed by a good nickname. Whilst we can’t guarantee you’ll appreciate the nicknames as much as we might, we can guarantee the appreciation of how we arrived at those nicknames – which will make for great stories.
We have introduced an Evolt360 into the gym as well which acts as an objective health tracker, measuring everything from your body fat to your muscle mass, your measurements to your calorie set point. Another thing it does to record your bio-age, giving you an age determined by the quality of your internal tissues and cells. The improvement in this bio age has been a real focal point for members and we’ve had some amazing results thus far. This is an added addition for our members to make sure they’re on the right track.
We’ve also added some fresh faces to our team. Jono, one of my best mates who I’ve trained with for the best part of 8 years or so. He used to be a skinny soccer kid, barely 80kg, now he’s the best part of $1.10. On a serious note, he’s an avid learner and one of the most caring and hard-working men I know, so it’s an honour to have him apart of the team.
To add some beauty to offset the beast, Hannah has been a delightful addition in the last couple of weeks and we’ve really appreciated her initiative and dedication to making things happen thus far. So you’re in capable hands with all of us.
Finally, just an appreciation to the people who call Red Shed and RSX their second home (or maybe even their first). It’s been amazing to come into an environment where I was essentially given the keys to the kingdom and a space to create, and whilst I knew it was going to be good, I probably didn’t envision the calibre of people who have made it exactly what it is – and that’s a place to be yourself, have fun, make friends and do it with a smile.
So from us to you, thank you. Let’s keep rising to the top.
