The impact on
the community

At Red Shed, volunteers play a crucial role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment. From assisting aspiring rowers to lending a hand at community events, your contribution makes a tangible difference in the lives of our members and the broader community.

01

Rowing Assistance

Opportunities to welcome and inspire newcomers to the world of rowing! If you have previous rowing experience, your expertise can provide invaluable support to our coaches. Assist in balancing the boat and guiding new rowers as they navigate Lake Burley Griffin. Create a fun and supportive learning environment.

02

Boat Maintenance

Extra hands are always needed for general boat and equipment maintenance, ensuring everyone who comes to the Red Shed has a positive experience. There are opportunities in repairing oars, rigging boats, sorting shoes, and sweeping the bays and docks.

03

Community Events

Enhance the atmosphere at community events with unique skills, passions and hobbies. From photographers to DJ’s, race timers to dock masters, be part of the team that fosters an inclusive community and enhances the experience of all Red Shed attendees.

Empowering our volunteers

Inspired by the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie that defines the sport of rowing, our volunteer program offers opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and meaningful connections.

01

Skill Development

Develop rowing skills, coaching abilities, event management expertise, and leadership qualities through hands-on experience and training provided by experienced professionals.

02

Networking Opportunities

Volunteering exposes individuals to a diverse range of people within the rowing community and beyond, expanding their social and professional networks, and opening doors to new friendships, mentorship, and potential career opportunities.

03

Purpose

By giving back to the sport they love, volunteers experience a profound sense of purpose and fulfilment, knowing that their contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and the success of the rowing community as a whole.

Whether you’re wanting to give back to community, learn event management skills or how to maintain rowing boats and oars, you’ll find fulfilment and fun every stroke of the way being a Red Shed volunteer. Join us in building a stronger, more vibrant community both on and off the water. Together, let’s row towards a brighter future!
