By participating in any program, event, or service offered by Red Shed Inc — including but not limited to rowing programs, gym access and classes, wellness services and bookings, community events, social functions, and café-related activities — individuals agree to abide by these terms and conditions and the accompanying participant waiver.

2 Participant Waiver

By booking into any Red Shed Inc service, participants acknowledge that they’ve read, understood and agree to the Participant Waiver available in the relevant event, service, or program description.

3 Health and Safety

Participants must ensure they are in good health and free from any medical conditions that could affect safe participation. It is strongly recommended that participants seek medical advice before beginning any new fitness or wellness routine.

Participants must notify Red Shed Inc in writing of any changes to their physical or mental health that may impact their participation. Red Shed Inc reserves the right to arrange emergency medical treatment — including first aid, defibrillation, ambulance, or safety boat transport — and participants agree to bear all related costs.

4 Assumption of Risk

Participation in Red Shed Inc services involves inherent risks. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical activities: rowing, gym use, exercise classes;
  • Wellness services: cold plunge, traditional Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, dry float bed, EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulation), Normatec compression therapy, and other similar offerings;
  • Community and social events.

Participants acknowledge risks such as death, serious physical or mental injury, disease, and economic loss. Physical injury risks include drowning, head/neck/spinal trauma, damage to musculoskeletal and internal systems. Mental injury risks may include psychological harm or psychiatric illness.

5 Booking and Cancellation

Bookings

Bookings are essential for all services at Red Shed, including but not limited to:

  • Rowing programs and classes;
  • Gym access and group sessions;
  • Wellness services and appointments;
  • Community events and private functions.

The café usually accepts walk-ins depending on availability each day.

Memberships: Rowing, Gym, and Wellness

All Red Shed memberships for rowing, gym and wellness (including RSX memberships) are flexible with no minimum commitment period. However:

  • Cancellations require 4 weeks’ notice in writing.
  • Suspensions are allowed for a minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of 8 weeks per calendar year.

Memberships: Red Shedder

All Red Shedder memberships are annual, paid upfront and non-refundable. As a not-for-profit, all membership fees go toward supporting Red Shed’s mission of providing accessible rowing so your contribution makes a real impact.

No-Show Policy for Membership Bookings: Rowing, Gym, Wellness and Red Shedder

To help keep things fair and make sure everyone has access to limited spots in our classes, we ask that members, including rowing, gym, wellness and Red Shedder members, cancel any bookings that they are not showing up to at least 12 hours before class.

If you book a session and don’t show up – or cancel late – and it prevents someone else from attending, a $10 dollar no-show fee may be charged to your account.

We understand that life happens and will always consider genuine circumstances, but frequent no-shows may impact your ability to book sessions in future.

Term-Based and Holiday Programs

Program enrolments (e.g. school holiday programs, term-based rowing) are paid upfront and are non-refundable.

Casual Bookings

Cancellations for all casual bookings (e.g. drop-in gym or wellness use) must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged the full session fee.

Private Coaching and Personal Training

Cancellations for private sessions (e.g. private rowing, PT, recovery coaching) must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged at the full rate.

In the event of adverse weather, Red Shed’s weather policy still applies. Red Shed will make every effort to substitute with an appropriate indoor or alternative activity.

Red Shed reserves the right to update cancellation windows in specific coaching agreements or seasonal programs.

Medical Considerations

If a participant is unable to attend due to a verified medical issue:

  • We may consider applying a credit toward future services, subject to written notification and supporting documentation (e.g. medical certificate).
  • Refunds are not guaranteed and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by Red Shed management.

All cancellation or credit requests must be made in writing via info@redshed.org.au.

6 Late Pickup Policy

This policy applies to all junior programs. Parents/guardians must collect children on time. A fee of $15 per 15 minutes (or part thereof) applies for late pickups. This must be paid before the child may attend again.

If a child is permitted to leave independently, express permission must be granted in two ways:

  • In writing via email in advance; and
  • Confirmed in person with a Red Shed staff member on the first day of the program.

7 Supervision and Instruction

Participants must follow all reasonable instructions provided by Red Shed staff and coaches. Failure to comply may increase the risk of injury and could lead to removal from a session or program.

Red Shed reserves the right to restrict access or participation based on a failure to follow instructions related to safety or group management.

8 Use of Facilities and Equipment

Participants must treat all facilities and equipment responsibly. Any damage caused through misuse or negligence may result in financial liability for repair or replacement, or restricted access.

Red Shed recognises that damage may occur as part of regular use. If an item or space is damaged or unsafe, participants are required to notify staff immediately. A simple reporting process (QR code or online form) will be made available on the noticeboard and other key locations within the facility.

9 Weather Policy

Weather may impact some activities, particularly rowing. Where outdoor activities are deemed unsafe due to heat, wind, storms, air quality, or other factors, Red Shed reserves the right to:

  • Modify or relocate activities with little or no notice;
  • Substitute with an appropriate alternative activity (indoors, outdoors, or otherwise) aimed at delivering similar value or skill development;
  • Not offer a refund or credit due to weather-related changes.

Safety remains our priority, and decisions may be made on the day or immediately prior to sessions.

10 Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to uphold the values and standards outlined in the Red Shed Code of Conduct.

Red Shed Code of Conduct.

Failure to comply may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from a program, class, or the facility.

11 Personal Belongings

Red Shed Inc is not responsible for any loss or damage to belongings brought onsite. Participants are encouraged to store valuables in designated areas or lockers.

Day-use lockers unlock automatically after 3 hours. Permanent lockers are available to hire on a month-to-month basis — please enquire at reception for details.

12 Photography and Marketing

Red Shed Inc may photograph or film participants during sessions or events for promotional use. If you do not wish to appear in such material, please advise staff in writing before the session begins.

Red Shed (or authorised third parties) may store, publish, or reuse imagery for Red Shed–related promotion without compensation. Removal requests can be made via info@redshed.org.au.

13 Surveillance of Venues

All Red Shed facilities are subject to ongoing video and audio surveillance. This includes gym spaces, rowing sheds, common areas, recovery zones, and entrances.

While surveillance systems are maintained for safety and compliance purposes, Red Shed cannot guarantee the availability or clarity of footage at all times. Any footage linked to suspected misconduct may be shared with law enforcement or relevant authorities.

14 Privacy

Red Shed collects personal information to provide services and manage participation. This includes registration, safety records, and communication.

By enrolling, participants consent to information being used or shared for administrative or legal compliance, and to Red Shed’s Privacy Policy which outlines rights to access, correction, and complaint.

15 Intellectual Property

All Red Shed Inc content, branding, and operational frameworks — including but not limited to digital content, training materials, written programs, session structures, marketing assets, and in-person experiences — remain the property of Red Shed Inc.

These are protected under relevant intellectual property laws and may not be copied, reproduced, or used commercially without permission.

16 Modifications and Amendments

These terms may be updated periodically. Red Shed will publish major changes on our website and notify members by email where appropriate.

17 Governing Law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Australia. Any disputes arising out of or related to these terms and conditions shall be resolved exclusively through the courts of the ACT, Australia.
