We brought our food and beverage in house this year and we are not taking any new function bookings for 2026. We will open 2027 bookings later this year. The Telopea Room is Red Shed’s function space, right on Lake Burley Griffin. Floor-to-view windows, flexible layouts and in-house catering from Easy Oar make it one of Canberra’s most memorable places to gather.

Add rowing, a gym session or recovery to your event. Bring your team down to try rowing on the lake, then recover in the sauna and eat at Easy Oar. We’ll build the day around you.

Catering
From morning teas to canapés and shared-style three-course sit-down dinners, catering is handled in-house by Easy Oar using fresh, seasonal local produce.

Frequently asked questions
How many people does the Telopea Room hold?
It depends how you want to use it. On round tables it seats 160, or 100 once you add a band and a dance floor. Long tables seat 104. Theatre style for a presentation takes 160, classroom style 36, and a U shape 35. For a stand-up cocktail event the room holds 220 standing, and it can be split into two spaces of 24. Download the room layouts for a drawing of each configuration. Final numbers depend on staging, catering style, AV and access, so treat these as a starting point rather than a promise.
Is the deck ours for the event?
Not exclusively. The outdoor deck is shared with the Easy Oar cafe, so it stays open to cafe customers while your event is on. It is a lovely space to spill out into. We just want you to know it is not private.
What sorts of events do you host?
Some event types are not available or require additional security. Tell us what you have in mind.
When do bookings for 2027 open?
Later this year. We have not set a date, because we want the kitchen running exactly as it should be before we take on more events. Join the list and you will hear from us as soon as we know.
Who does the catering?
The Easy Oar kitchen, in house. Bringing food and beverage in house this year is the reason we have paused new function bookings, and it is why the wait will be worth it.
