What it is
Six weeks of coaching, then you race in front of a crowd at the Golden Oar.
Crews of four, from complete first-timers to returning regatta crews. Nine private coaching sessions booked at times that suit your team, and on Friday 30 October you line up on the 450m course with the lake, the music and the food all going on around you.
Expect strong racing, good banter and a bit of healthy cross-team competition.

The details
- Training: 9 x 90 minute private coaching sessions across 6 weeks
- Starts: week of Monday 7 September 2026
- Crew size: 4 rowers per quad
- Experience: all levels, including complete beginners
- Race day: Friday 30 October, 4:00 to 6:00pm
- Course: 450m laned Golden Oar course, Black Mountain Peninsula
- Format: handicaps for mixed crews, and a novice category for crews with first-time rowers
- Cost: $4,500 + GST per crew

Race day is a day out
Race day is not just for the four people in the boat. Colleagues, partners and kids come down and make a day of it on the bank, and it turns into one of the better days your company will have together.
There is real, friendly rivalry between the Canberra companies who keep coming back for it.

Never rowed? No problem.
Plenty of our corporate crews have a few regattas behind them now. New crews of complete beginners are still exactly who we want on the water, and getting people into rowing who never thought it was for them is the whole reason Red Shed exists.
The novice category is there for first-time crews, and handicaps even out the mixed ones, so your first regatta is still a fair race.

Questions
Do we need four people who can row?
No. You need four people who are up for it. Plenty of crews start with nobody who has rowed.
What if we cannot find four people?
Tell us anyway. We can hold your spot while you sort it, or match you with others to build a boat. Plenty of crews carry an extra one or two who rotate through.
Can we enter more than one crew?
Yes, and it is more fun that way. Tell us when you enquire and we will sort the logistics.
What if someone drops out?
Tell us early and we will work it out. We would rather rearrange a crew than lose you.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The session still runs. If conditions keep us off the water we move inside and work on the ergs and your technique, which is where a lot of the gains come from anyway. You will feel it next time you are in the boat.
What is the ProAm 8s?
An optional extra race at the Golden Oar where your crew rows alongside experienced rowers. Included in your entry if you want it.
